Drawbacks
- Applications for teachers
- Great for editing and marking papers and other student work.
- Great assessment tool to see that students understand concepts.
- good for differentiated instruction if students are better able to pay attention when drawing
- visual note taking gets students to make connections between what they are hearing and drawing, therefore deepens their understanding
- benefits differentiated instruction for students who understand, but have difficulty with language and are better with images
- can add details to simple pictures to include more info.
- great for students to demonstrate their understanding of various concepts.
Required tools (what you need)
- You need an IPad
- You need an HDMI or VPN adaptor to connect to big screen
- Ideally an IPad stylus pen (this makes drawing easier and allows for more detail than using fingers)
Things to Consider
- ensure students are saving work, could be lost
- ensure students are only using tools within the app that they are comfortable with and do not get distracted by
- need to have visual vocabulary, similar to word vocabulary
- students need to learn how to use the app before it can be integrated into any lessons.
- drawing images should be simple so students are focusing on the speaker
Drawbacks
- visual note taking would be good for concept mapping, but this could potentially limit the student’s ability to pay attention
- text only comes in one basic font
- students who think they can't draw well may not enjoy the app.
